Blackbird

Blackbird
Artist The Beatles
Episode Original Songs
Sung By Kurt Hummel + Dalton Academy Warblers

Blackbird is sung by Kurt Hummel as an impromptu song in the episode Original Songs. It was performed because Pavarotti, the bird Kurt was given when he first transferred to Dalton Academy, died due to a stroke. Kurt found it stupid to be sad over a bird, but he said that he had a different connection with Pavarotti, so he needed a minute and a song to express his love for him.

[edit] Performance

The performance of Blackbird started off with Kurt setting Pavarotti's cage down. He was wearing a black article of clothing (possibly a tuxedo).

During the entire performance, he was crying. However, sometime while he was singing, The Warblers joined in with background vocals, and Blaine Anderson realized something in Kurt. This is when Blaine found his feelings for Kurt.

[edit] Lyrics

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
